The memorial plaque being unveiled during the dedication.  Our ICM Representative, Brad Orchard (on the right) was there to help with the ceremony.

Marissa's House Orphanage is in Jimma, Ethiopia.  Jimma is the largest city in Southwestern Ethiopia, about 5 hours south of the capital, Addis Ababa.  We are partnering with International Cooperating Ministries http://www.icm.org to coordinate the operation of the orphanage.  They oversaw the construction of the building from start to finish and have been very helpful throughout.

Marissa's House is a church first, and then a home.                                 Based on James 1:27, homeless widows, especially those with children, will be sought out as caregivers. Widows know the pain & loss these children experience and they also need a place to live and bring up their own children.  The caretakers and children will live in one part of the building and the remainder will be used as a church and community gathering place. Using the central room as a local gathering place will involve the entire community in the lives of these children, thus creating a welcoming, compassionate environment for them to return to when they come of age

Worshippers 1-30-11The first worship service was held in Marissa's House on January 30, 2011.                                            All All praise & glory to God !
